How Radiesse Works
Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) injectable biostimulator suspended in a gel carrier. The gel provides initial support while the CaHA microspheres help stimulate collagen and elastin.
FDA-approved indications include selected facial folds, jawline contour, hand volume loss, and décolleté wrinkles using the approved dilution. Other treatment areas or techniques are considered individually and may be off-label.
Contour improvement can be visible immediately, with continued skin-quality improvement over time. Results have been shown to last up to two years, although duration varies.
Treatment and Safety
A consultation determines whether Radiesse, hyperdiluted Radiesse, Sculptra, or another option best matches your concern. Common temporary effects include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching.
As with all fillers, rare intravascular injection can cause tissue injury, vision complications, or stroke. Radiesse is not established for use in the lips or around the eyes, and treatment is postponed for active infection.
Tell every medical or imaging provider that you have received Radiesse because CaHA may be visible on certain imaging. Results vary.
